T. E. Lawrence to Sir Percy Sykes

M.A.E.E.
Felixstowe

22.5.33.

I hope your review, however brief, will recognise the great merit of Palgrave as explorer and writer. You have my encouragement to shorten the passages dealing with myself (who was deliberately not a geographer in Arabia, to the extent of not publishing my compass traces) if thereby you can do Palgrave tardy justice. He was in the Philby-Thomas class as explorer and wrote brilliantly.
