Dear Robin

A very decent friend of mine, [name omitted] lost his cash farming and is broke. They were going to bankrupt him, but I said I could manage £200 directly; and that saved the situation.

He says he wants the money paid direct to the Receiver at Bristol. So I have sent him a cheque for £200, for him to fill in the 'pay' name*. Will you please get me an overdraft to meet this, pro tem? I will arrange to satisfy the account very soon: but must overdraw first.

No news here. Rotten weather, cold first and wet afterwards. Everybody ill and miserable, except me.

Odyssey selling well in U.S.A. Four printings gone, to date. Looks like netting me £300 by next settling day. Good to plunder the Yanks.
