T. E. Lawrence to Edward Garnett
Saturday
[A day or two after 7.9.22]
Well, here it is, the whole mass of it, absolutely uncorrected. I pity
you, wading in it. I've numbered the chapters in pencil: the pages are
still blank: so if you spill them, all you can do is to write me a p.c.
for help!
It
is very good of you to try and re-shape it.
E.L.
I
should have thanked you more graciously for the offer of Belles-Lettres:
but the hour was a short one: and I don't really know why I don't want
to do it - and that puzzled me.
L.
I'm going to stick it in some post office on my way back. Camp has been
awful the last 3 days: a solid grind of work.
