I went down to Eastbourne yesterday, paid Doughty his £400: and carried off The Dawn in Britain. No difficulty arose at the last moment.

I'll give it to the B.M. this afternoon, and the fact will be published possibly next week. And on Thursday I may start for Bagdad!

Homer arrived: he's very handsome, and the inscription does you credit after my remarks on Saturday. I'm very grateful to you for the kindness: and will hope in turn to re-read the Odyssey duly when I get back from the East. The Air Mail restrictions of baggage will not allow me to carry it out across the desert.

John is finishing Mme. Suggia tomorrow and sending her to the Academy. She will make a splash.

When I get back from the East (d.c.) perhaps we will meet in Cambridge: but improbably. I fear you will have to come to London.
