T. E. Lawrence to Robert Graves

 16th. [March 1922]

Dear R.G.

I can't come now: since Feb. 28. I've been in the Colonial Office all day: every day: first Mesopotamia: now Palestine: last night Turkey. It's hopeless. I'll let you know when, if ever, I get away.... [omission]

Note: In B:RG this letter is placed in early 1921. However, the omitted content refers a possible visit to Oxford in March - impossible in 1921 since Lawrence knew he would be in the Middle East. The letter must therefore date from 1922, which also explains the reference to Turkey.
