Lord,

What I told you last week about my likes was not altogether true. There was an exception who provided a disproportionate share of the motive for the Arabian adventure, and who after it was over dictated the enclosed as preface to the story of it.

I turned it out a day ago when preparing for a printer: and I don't know - It's hardly a literary question of good or bad (nearer the address to a letter) but is it prose or verse?

Note. This letter probably dates from the second half of January 1922. Graves appears to have replied shortly after the birth of his third child on 4 February, since that is mentioned in Lawrence's next letter, and Lawrence would surely not have delayed long in acknowledging Graves's comments on the dedication.
