T. E. Lawrence to his family

Arab Bureau
Savoy Hotel
Cairo

12.5.18

I sent you a wire a week ago, as I passed through Cairo on my way up to Palestine. Since then I have been travelling at red hot speed, but tonight have finished. Tonight I am going to spend in Cairo, and I got here last night. It is the first time for six weeks that I have spent two nights running in one place. I'll get letters from you tomorrow, and answer them at my leisure, because I expect I'll be here a week. This is only a scrawl meanwhile. All is very well, and while we have not done all we want, we have done all that we could do by ourselves, and it is not at all bad.
